Design and Style

The true Evo in-ears have an oval-like shape, and the theme is black and decent. It has earbuds with stability which makes it look a little sporty. However, the earbuds are a little thick and stay on your ear, and they weigh about 0.03 lbs. On the other hand, they are lightweight and are very comfortable. In addition, they have extra stability fins, which helps choose a suitable size for your ears. 

These in-ears so come with foam tips. They can be very comfortable for most people since they don’t go deeply into the ear canal. However, others may still feel some fatigue after using them for a long time.

The lid of the charging case is see-through, which allows you to see the LED status easily. It also comes with a pouch which makes it very easy to store the headphones when traveling. You can also put in other accessories like a charging cable. 

They are water-resistant and sweat-resistant headphones with a rating of IPX6; the headphones’ build quality is decent and ensures that they can survive some drops. The plastic used to make the earbuds is dense and won’t easily break. However, the charging case is not as sturdy as the headphones.

On the other hand, they are very stable and can easily be used for running and workouts. You will find the Charging case, 2 foam tips, 3 stability fins, 7 ear tips, charging cable, pouch, and a manual. 


The True Evo can work with any operating system, and the controls are easy to use. Each earbud has a button to change music, answer or end calls, activate voice assistant, power on or off, and pair with your device. The problem is that they do not have separate controls to allow you to change the tracks. 

To reject a call, hold a button for 3 seconds, another 5 seconds the headphones the power goes off. 



The battery life is concise; 5 hours on a single charge and recharging them takes longer and requires recharging for at least 3 hours until complete. You can also use the charging case to charge the headphones; while charging, an LED indicates it is charging. With the charging case, you have additional 20 hours of battery life.

The Altec Lansing True Evo has a decent sound quality and a good bass for all music genres. The midrange levels are a bit clattered, but the trebles are well balanced. If you are into bass, then the headphones have got some beat.  

The microphone is way better than your average headphones; it is clear without any fuzziness. At high volumes, the headphones do not distort the sound. On a moderate volume, the bass is heavy and intense. The foam ear tips also enhance the bass more.

Easy Pairing: They have an auto-connect feature that makes it very easy for the two earbuds to be connected. Once you take them out of the charging case, the two earphones will connect automatically. 


Waterproof (IPX6): The earphones can be used in the rain because it waterproof, rated IPX6.

Secure Fit: The headphones are a perfect fit for your ear because of the extra ear tips, which have different sizes for stability. 


When it comes to music, they have an excellent sound profile with some heavy bass making them great for those that love to listen to bass-heavy music. However, the downside of these in-ears is that they do not isolate frequencies very well. Another downside is that they have short battery life and can take a long time to charge fully. Is Altec Lansing True Evo worth it?

The earphones are worth it, depending on what you intend to use them. For example, they are worth traveling with, engaging in fitness and sporting activities, and office use.

Traveling: They are lightweight, portable, and comfortable for traveling. 

Fitness and Sports: They have breathable and a sweat-resistant design. The fins are stable and do not fall out when working out; the wireless range can still play while your phone is some distance away.  

Office Use: When it comes to office use, these headphones perform averagely. They can help to isolate some background noises but are not as effective. On the other hand, they do not leak sounds which make them suitable as you will not disturb your colleagues.
